My good man. the 4.8 shares similar exterior characteristics as the 4.6. Exhaust tips are oval tips as opposed to dual tips. the 4.8 has a newly designed frontbumper which is a one piece compared to the spoiler addition on the 4.6. These two options are not available stock form bmw on other x5's. Not to forget the 4.8 has a facelift like the 04's and up. The 4.8 also has a four-piece fender flare kit on the rear wells. Bigger tires and rims than a 4.4 or 3.0. And of course it has suspension which sits about 1.5 in. lower than a stock x5. whew!

You forgot the most important difference: the powerplant!

Edit: nevermind, he ask for outside difference. My bad.
