All those with AFE intakes, please read
I received the AFE intake kit for my 05 4.8 this week (ordered it from the group buy). As I was going over the parts list, I noticed the "billet adaptor" as its described in the instructions is actually now made of black plastic. I was a little disappointed in this, so I called up AFE and they informed me its not a mistake and that now make that part out of plastic (as opposed to metal) because it is cheaper. I asked if it flowed the same and he said absolutely.
Has anyone else who just got their AFE intake kit recently also had the plastic adaptor? Just want to make sure I didn't get stuck with the wrong part and am curious when this change came around. They havent updated the instructions yet because they still have a picture of the billet adaptor. Thanks!

False advertising! I'd demand the billet piece!

Yep its pictured as a billet piece and described in the instructions as a billet adaptor.
I had an AFE intake in my E46 M3, and that also had a true billet adaptor, very nice piece I might add. Honestly, if they made the change and it flows the same, Im OK with it. Im just curious if anyone else has noticed this and when the change was. Any more input guys?

They should refund your shipping as well if they charged it to you, definitely give them a call. Also, check your kit and see what kind of adaptor you have. Metal or plastic? Its in a smaller brown box within the main box. Thanks!

Here is a link showing the kit. The piece labeled as the "three angle adaptor" can be seen as metal in the pic. Again, mine is plastic. Not trying to beat a dead horse just want to show you guys what I was referring to, lol.
