Yeah, that lil plastic "adaptor" should flow just like the billet one. I see no reason why it would not.

Hmm... I recall seeing metal cone air filter adapters for sale somewhere on the web.

It might have been the K&N website or one of the other air filter mfgs. I don't know if these other adapters are compatible, but I think they were intended for the same purpose - to connect the tube and filter together.

I have to head out to my office, I won't be able to confirm this until later tonight. If anyone cares to dig through the K&N website, send up a report so I'll know I was or wasn't hallucinating.

I also bought mine through group buy. Mine is a 3.0i so can't compare. I was orginally charged $249 but Brad from Evo Sport called me today and let me know that he will refund the difference.

all of the X5 ones are plastic, at least the 4.4 is. The 325-M3 are aluminum!
It is supposed to stay cooler, the aluminum one on my 325ci is a heat sink at a stop light.

hey guys...I just recieved my 3.0 intake from the group buy...I was intitially charged the 21.50 for the shipping, but that was then deducted...hopefully I will install it this weekend!

Let me know if you have the SES light problem. I installed mine last weekend but the SES light illuminated shortly after the installation.
