Power steering issue

Greetings everyone

I noticed some strange behavior and didn't find anything relatable on the Internet.
So, basically, sometimes, when starting the car, the power steering refuses to engage, meaning I'm ended up with heavy steering. It's resolved by turning the car off and on again. Sometimes it takes more than 1 try. I checked the fluid level and it seems to be okay.
It never happens during drive, only when starting the engine.
Any ideas?
Could it be related to the battery? I know the previous owner changed the battery during some point but it's definitely not the original AGM.

Thanks in advance.

Could be Servotronic solenoid problem. Read trouble codes first.

X5chemist will become famous soon enough
Has the reservoir been changed? It has a filter at the bottom. It could be restricting fluid flow. How dirty is the fluid?

So I had my transmission serviced a few weeks ago. 220k miles and that was the first oil change. The connector was leaking a little so it was replaced as well. Funnily enough, the issue with power steering disappeared afterward. It didn't happen once following the transmission service. Coincidence or the leaking connector actually caused some troubles?? My money's on the latter

Or just the fact that trouble codes were erased and counter temporarily reset.

What counter do you mean?
