Unknown Vacuum Hose

Hi there,
I brought back my 2004 X5, 3.0i from my mechanic working on the starter; when look at vacuum lines now I see one with a hook like end just floating in the back of engine. When I told him that, he said just leave it as is!
Please would you tell what it is and where it's supposed to be connected to.
See attached video please.
