Question X5 Spare wheel! Is it full size?

Hi Guys,

Just bought a used X5 3.0d sport auto and notice the spare wheel is the same as the 17" one fitted to the SE model. Is this correct or has someone swoped the original?

Grateful for any advice,

Thanks

Kate

That is right. All spares are the 17" wheel.

Anyone got the 5x18" emergency spare wheel! Not only would it safe weight but would be much easier to change! All this of course at the expense of not being able to drive very fast with it!

My 17" spare has a tire that matches the diameter of my 19" sport wheels and is rated at 130 mph. I've always felt bad for those cars seen limping home on their undersized spares. Having a speed rated spare tire was very important to me when choosing a car or SUV. As an example, he Porsche Cayenne has a serious spare problem. I'm thinking run-flats will become more popular as they improve the technology.

One note of clarification. The 4.6is and 4.8is do not have a full size spare.
