2004 Xenon to Dynamic Xenon upgrade

I have a 2004 that came with Xenon lights. I picked up a pair of dynamic xenons at the local salvage yard that'll clean up really nice. I searched around to try and find out if it's just plug and play with maybe coding the LCM or more involved and I can't seem to find an answer anywhere. I'm only getting answers with converting halogen to xenon. Any help is appreciated.

It's far from plug&play. You need a separate AHL module (located behing glovebox). It needs wiring for voltage, ground, brake light signal, K-bus and CAN-bus. The xenon level sensors which are normally connected to LCM need to be connected to AHL module. On the headlight the supply for leveling motors from LCM is not used anymore. Instead LIN-bus wires from AHL module. Other headlight wiring is the same originating from LCM.

I have adaptive lights on my E53 and personally I think it's not worth the hassle.

Yeah.. it's certainly not sounding like it. By any chance do you know if they were pre-wired for the AHL module? I could grab that from the salvage yard too. Would they function without throwing codes if I just plug them in and use as non adaptive? Just basically looking for a "cleaner" set than I have.

Many of the things on E53 are prewired but I don't know about AHL module. In any case level sensor wiring would need to be transferred from LCM to AHL module.

Obviously even the height leveling on AHL headlights won't work without signalling from AHL module so they would be quite useless.
