2004 BMW X5 E53 4.4i N62 error code P2190 System too rich at idle, bank 2
OBDII scanner show the following: - Raw code: P2190 ECU: 12 Status: Confirmed System too rich at idle, bank 2 - Raw code: 27A0 ECU: 12 Status: Test conditions are met, Validated and stored in non volatile memory, Validated fault present at time of request - Raw code: 4F7A ECU: 18 Status: Pending fault present, Validated and stored in non volatile memory - Raw code: 272D ECU: 12 Status: Pending fault present during this driving cycle, Validated and stored in non volatile memory, Validated fault present at time of request, Validated fault has been present during this drive cycle. The car consumes more fuel. In city before the error appeared the dashboard shows average 18 MPG, after the error it dropped to 14 MPG. My understanding is that there is not enough oxygen in the mixture, therefore the computer compensate it by the increasing the amount of fuel into the mixture. This means that there is an air leak somewhere? Can someone advice please on what I should check next? Attached is a screenshot from my scanner, one for idle and one for 2800 RPM. The O2S2 trim always shows Zero, it make sense? The MAF reading looks correct? Thank you Last edited by ravid824; 08-21-2022 at 03:14 AM. |

It's my first time seeing a P2190 code means. "This code indicates there is too much fuel in relation to air (air/fuel ratio) in bank 1 at idle only."
Using the code definition, I would suspect a leaking fuel injector. A fuel leak test would be my first test.
