swapping ABS modules. what is and isnt compatible?

i have a 01 5spd X5 that has had the trifecta lights with the red brake light on for close to 3 years. i sent the module out to module masters for repair however they were not able to fix it and sent it back. after reinstalling it i did get back the proper rev limiter and cruise control (it cuts off randomly about once a week) but still no ABS, trac control or hill decent. when they returned it they said since it was a 5spd it had to be a certain module and not any old X5 module would work. is this true? circled in red is the part number they said it needed to be to be compatible which after searching on and off for the past 3 years if have not been able to locate
