Door locks acting up

I have had this issue for a while now but haven't put any thoughts into it yet. Occasionally when locking the doors, one of the doors won't lock and you have to unlock and lock again. My wife uses the car more than I do and she said it's typically the driver's door. For me, this has only occurred once and it was the left rear door. Also, yesterday my wife was getting into the car and unlocked the doors (manually with the key), opened the driver's door to get in and suddenly the doors lock again by itself.

For what I have read, issues like these are quite typical with these and I understood the lock actuator is typically the culprit. But before rushing into shopping for a new lock actuator, is there anything else to check beforehand? For example, can the GM3 module cause something like this? As a side note, the remote control in my key doesn't work at all at the moment, and I haven't been able to pull the trigger to purchase a new key yet, not knowing if it would fix the issue. https://xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-forums/...mittently.html
