Parts cannon: coolant system / air intake off

A new parts cannon list has begun.
The last priority update: coolant system.
A complete Rein coolant hose kit was ordered.
Temp sensor
Expansion tank
Heater valve (hoses?)
Blue coolant
DISA valve kit

What else can I replace while the air intake is off?
Items to be ordered:
Intake/exhaust cam sensors
CCV system
TBI cleaning/air intake hose replacement
Starter refresh?
All vacuum hoses?
Intake seals

Already updated:
Metal water pump pulley
New plastic fan
Fan clutch
water pump (previous owner) I'll have to check for a metal impeller.
Thermostat housing
OFHG
Steering hoses/reservoir
Tensioners
Belts

After this parts cannon is fired: VANOS rebuild, valve cover gasket, O2 sensors

Be careful of those Rein hoses...They used to be fine...Some of the Rein cooling parts are now made in China and are more iffy IMO... I am not saying they are junk. I am saying that many Rein hoses are now made in China and that quality is not as good as it used to be...

EDIT: I took a look on FCP Euro's site.. It looks like all the Rein rubber cooling hoses in your picture were made in Germany according to FCP.

Both Rein hard plastic pipes were made in China...

may I suggest a G.A.S. Disa repair kit?

You didn't specify which Disa repair kit you ordered; may I suggest a G.A.S. Disa repair kit? From what I read before I rebuilt mine, I feared having the pin fall out when I removed mine from the intake...it was the original Disa (as far as I could tell, on a 210000 mile M54), and I was sure it was loose.

So, I ordered the German Auto Solutions M54 DISA Repair & Upgrade Kit (thru Amazon, though it's no longer available there), and repaired/upgraded mine. I bought an extra sealing O-ring, and now I don't worry about it at all.

G.A.S. still has them available online, for $69.95.

Thanks Effduration. I'll check the bag for manufacturing origin. If made in China, I'll swap the two coolant pipes for better ones. The hoses I can use since they are easier to replace.

workingonit, I'll open the bag up and check it. I think I went with an aluminum flap from E46 boards. I wanted the GAS one. When I wanted the DISA and tank cap, the cap was not available. I did buy the cap separately when it became available. So far, no coolant loss since installed.

I am using ONLY Genuine BMW cooling hard pipes these days...I had a non-genuine hard pipe leak after one year which really chapped my ass.

I had seen this thread on E46 fanatics.com forum, before I purchased the G.A.S. repair kit from Amazon: E46 Fanatics forum

I saw the X8R kit on Amazon, too, but it was for the smaller displacement engines. The X8R version for the 3.0i was available from their website in the UK, but wout cost about $90 with shipping (last year). Since the G.A.S. kit was available for under $70 with free shipping, I bought that kit from Amazon.

Another kit was much cheaper on Amazon, but it was just the same as the original, plastic flap with a metal pin. Not what I wanted. Even an Amazon customer review stated that the pin came loose very early on, after installation. I wasn't wanting that to happen, so I spent more, for a G.A.S. kit with the locking pin.

As it goes, now the coolant system refresh is now. It has a coolant leak as of yesterday. I'm ordering a few more parts to tear it apart next week.

Attached is a DISA valve repair kit. It's aluminum. Looks okay. Where do the small washers go?

The Rein kit was checked. All the hoses are made in Germany except for one. The block straight pipe says China but still in a Rein package.
Should I replace it with a different brand?

Is there anything else I should replace while the intake is off?

G.A.S. Disa kit only came with one lockwasher

I couldn't remember, as it was done nearly a year back, so I looked at the kit and instrucions on the German Auto Solutions website https://germanautosolutions.com/supp...d-upgrade-kit/

It shows only one lockwasher, and where it goes. I presume that your Chinese kit is much the same, so I would only use one, unless the length of the pin makes use of two a requirement (if the locking pin protrudes way past the top of the assembly). Whenever I buy loose nuts, bolts, washers, lockwashers, I always buy an extra or two, just in case I lose one.

I would choose a Genuine BMW pipe for that Block straight pipe...We have had reports of Rein cooling pipes failing early. I have seen pictures comparing the inner and outer diameter of the Rein and the Genuine and it looks quite different. You don't want to go in to do it again.

The other 90 degree coolant pipe was not made in China ?

You might want to make sure the metal water pump pulley is concentric and has no run- out. I ended up putting my plastic one back on.
