Thinking of letting her go...Not for sale ad

https://xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-forums/...iles-away.html

128k on the clock currently and she's running great. In my 2 years of ownership I did bunch of PM and some repairs.
Getting an itch for X3 M40i. I like them them because they're almost identical size to E53 and I simply don't like big SUV's. Also, it should fit my lift.
Found one in Alpine White on Black and I'm quickly falling in love. Plus, my 13 year old daughter loves the interior with modern infotainment screen.
It's a hard decision as my E53 is one of the last ones produced (production date August 2006) and it's a rare spec: 3.0 Sport package with 18" wheels and silver rings around gauges which was 2006 only.
What say you masses?

Update the radio and keep it! Too nice to let go. Put some miles on it. I didn't know a Sport Package had upgraded wheels. That's my favorite set for its size.

There lies the problem, I want to keep it but then I'd have 5 vehicles:
Tundra is staying, 532 M has been 18 years in our family and I do love the E53.
The logical choice is for E60 M5 to go but just finished huge work on it:
6 speed conversion, suspension, rod bearings etc and not sure if I want to let it go.

I hear you and I agree.
I'm quite advanced DIY with tools, lift etc...but the fact is that those B58's are quite on steroids and will never be as reliable as M54.
Also, just turned 49 and E60 M5 project took everything out of me.

After a lifetime of automotive projects at home and at friend(s)' shops (never paid), at 72+, I'm desperately trying to avoid new projects, or even maintenance, if I can. The (failing) body and (low) budget are killing me.

My last major project (except for necessary home and car maintenance) was building a small, 4x8 squareback camping trailer. I started it at 61, got it campable at 63, and have modded it ever since. I could tell the difference in my enthusiasm and working speed during those times.

That's why I'm doing as little as needed on my X5, which I always wanted, but should've bought (or traded for, as I finally did last year) a decade or more earlier. My focus was my drag car Chevelle, until the trailer build took over; the X5 is my last "project car", but I'm sure glad it's working OK, as major maintenance or repair is not desired.

If I were you I would keep the X5. It’s not worth much but will be in 10 years or so.. And it’s white - rare compared to the other colours. Put it in storage.
I’m sort of the same with mine. I’ve had it 10 years nearly and use it every day. I quite often eye up other / newer cars but for some reason I just can’t part with the X5.
The fact that I could drive it around all week and never see another is great.

We've all gone though this phase. Give it some time and the bad thought would pass
