I haven't checked the CVs as you've described, but I can say for sure there isn't any sort of 'clunk' when shifting between gears. I would mention that I also changed the subframe bushings last December. This was done strictly for preventative maintenance.

My mystery vibration that felt like CV joint and only happened on certain roads turned out to be steering rack.

I bought a used reck to put in but the car was totalled by a deer before I got to install it. The vibration also felt just like a worn front ball joint from lower/rear control arm (sideways not forward). I forget exactly how I figured out there was some minor slop in the steering rack that at some perfect storm of road condition would vibrate just like bad control arm.
