rear window not going up or down

2001 E53 with 4.4i engine. I'm not sure if I have auto-dip mirrors but when looking in the mirror, they appear to reflect a double image...so is that a "yes"?


My daughter complained that the left rear window was not going up or down. Sure enough neither the switch on the drivers nor the rear passenger door work. However, when I depress the safety switch (engage child lock), the drivers switch will now work the rear window.


Do you have any advice what to do next? replace the drivers switch? is the switch serviceable (take apart and clean)?
