E53 4.8iS SRS Issue

Hi All
First ever post so Hello from the UK.

Got a SRS issue with my E53 4.8iS that I hope someone can help with.

A few days ago my Fasten Seat Belt warning came on with the annoying Bing Bong.
Strangely it goes off after I have driven half a mile.

Thought it would be a dodgy sensor in the seats or belts.

Scanned the car with my Topdon Phoenix and it could not communicate with the SRS Module.

Tried it with ISTA+ and sure enough not comms with SRS just a strange module on the Topology shown in Red. Can't remember exactly what it said.

Tried to manually scan SRS with both and neither can see the SRS Module.

I assume the module is dead but I am not getting an AIRBAG warning on the dash.

Any ideas?

Regards Rob

Does the airbag warning come briefly on when you turn on ignition? That light is activated via ground on airbag module (voltage via instrument cluster and fuse F45.). So if the light does not come on at all it very well can be that there is something wrong with the module. Airbag module supply voltage from fuse F44. Both of these fuses are Terminal R (ignition switch position 1).

Hi

Yes Airbag light comes on as normal then goes off after a few seconds.

Check F44 and F45 already and both are ok. Haven't checked for voltage yet.

Is the Airbag time delay in the SRS Module or is it in the cluster?

Cheers Rob

When the airbag module is powered (ignition pos. 1) it first grounds the warning light and after module self diagnostics go thru without problems it turns off the grounding on the warning light. So sounds like functioning normally at that stage.

So diagnostics working fully on all other modules?

Hi
Yes I can talk to all modules except the SRS.

I'll disconnect an airbag to trigger a warning light and see if I can clear it.
