Oil around rear diff input seal
I've just got my 2004 4.8iS back from having an Inspection II service (the last one was done 58k ago!). My car is on 108k miles.
They noted that there was a dampness of oil around the rear diff input seal.
Is this a job I should get done asap? I have noticed a deep rubbing noise occasionally when on the throttle, so I'm wondering if the diff oil is low and causing it.
Am I right in thinking there are 3 seals on the rear diff, and that it's best practice to get all 3 replaced at the same time? I don't know how long the job takes, but I read the seals are pretty cheap?
If anyone has done this job themselves I'd be keen to hear how long it took, or alternatively if a garage did it, how many hours they charged for and the overall cost.
