anyone fixed door locks?
These door locks seem to have a specified life span, mine have all started to act up this past year, the two rear doors now only lock and unlock manually.
With $250 a piece new, has anyone attempted to repair their own locks, or found a more reasonably priced source for locks?

There are lots of threads about the door locks on this site, you just need to do a search, sometimes google works better.

yes lots of threads about how to take out the old and install a new one. my search though is to find anyone who might have repaired the broken one instead of simply replace. And how did the repair turn out.

Are you talking about the lock actuator or the door handle carrier? The door handle carrier is an known weak point and Andrew has an excellent $12 fix for them to prevent them from ever breaking again. If it is the lock actuators, I don't recall there being much discussion of those on here. I have 274,000 miles on my X and I've never had an issue with them.

Actually the DHC is more like 25¢ fix. The DLA is the $12 motor swap.
Both can be found searching for thread started by me with awr-fix title Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

Cars set to auto lock will wear them or faster. I had one fail by 205,000 butt wife had four fail by 180,000.
Garaged cars that go though half as many lock/unlock cycles should last a lot longer. They fail from the brushes wear and I suspect climate will affect that greatly
