The fan suddenly stop working (solved)

The fan in the car suddenly stop working. No air is blowing to the car. I doenst help if I turn of AC or not or change temp. The only fan that is working is i the console, the fan that blows air to the back passenger seat

What can be the problem?

X5 E53 BMW X5 4.4i.

Fuse? Resistor? Seized fan motor?

You can rule things out by removing the connector on blower final stage. Then first measure voltage coming there. Then you can short the ground and voltage on the connector (blower should run on full revs).

Thanks. I will look for fuses. The rear compartment blower seems to work ok. The problem is the front blower.

In another post I read that is the AC refrigerant is low then even the blower will stop work. I dont think this is logically?

That previous diagram is for the main blower fan (but titled as the version with separate rear blower too).

AC / compressor has nothing to do with the interior blower.

If the refrigerant is low it can cause the evaporator to freeze and slow down air flow but not suddenly stop the blower motor like is being suggested.

If the blower fan isn’t working correctly, or at all, step one is to replace the final stage resistor. This is cheap, easy, and the cause of most blower motor related issues in E46/E39/E53/E38s.

If evaporator temp sensor is working correctly the compressor is deactivated if evaporator temp goes near 0 C.

The evap sensor is in the airflow and not touching the evaporator, at least with the IHKA system, so that doesn't work.
