Hot Start Issue / Leak Off Test
‘03 E53 3.0d M57. Did a leak off test to check the diesel injectors, aimed for a 1 minute test, had to stop the test after 20 seconds, injector #3 had filled the test bottle already! Guess we have the suspect. Lost an allen key, 3/4” socket wrench and an allen key socket down the engine bay in the process (allen key & allen key socket recovered since with an extending magnet tool… 3/4” socket wrench still MIA…. I really need to tie a bit of string to everything when working away in the engine). I envy anyone who has the M57N engine, the GEN1 E53 M57 3.0d engine covers are a real pain to remove. |

I don't see much of a difference regarding labor intensity between M57 versions when measuring leak off.
