Newbie x3 owner

Just splashed the big bucks to join the forum and helped a buddy replace his blower motor on his 2005 x5 ... dash out job took 5 1/2 hours.

Most everything works except the signal (left/right turn) not working likely due to removing the steering wheel and missing something on the way back in...

Some really good tech tips on this forum.

I've done a ton of work on my 2010 X3... chasing oil leaks, coolant hoses blowing up, crack in coolant reservoir... N52 not my favorite inline six....

Wow! Plus you had help! Did you take any pictures? My main blower makes noises now and then. Sooner or later, I'll have to replace it.

I've heard it's possible to change blower through the head unit hole.

Not sure if it actually saves time doing it laparoscopic method

I'll be the myth buster! I should order a blower motor to have handy (study). The key from pictures is to remove the cages off the motor, then put them back on!

No way man! I don't see that happening b/c you have to get the old one out... and that is screws that go straight up... then bust off of the old cage?

The job is terrible and I think the idea of fitting the pieces into thru the radio opening is like building a wooden boat in a glass bottle... can be done but... why??? haha.

I did find the signal switches that I forgot to reconnect or rather... couldn't really see them at night...

After all this work? the blower doesn't turn on. I checked the fuses 34 and 64. 34 is a 10 amp and 64 is a giant 50 amp... both appear intact.

I've ordered a new FSU and hope that gets us going again.

I took some pics but there are not near as good as the ones that are already posted. Plus my buddy was in charge of the camera and instructions. I was elbows deep into and didn't check his pics. He just took close up shots of wiring harnesses and screw holes... quite useless...
