LCM swap and coding with NCSExpert

I'm finally getting around to upgrading my LCMIII in my 2001 x5 to an LCM IV. The part number of the LCM IV is 61356961140. Strangely enough, the part number I bought is what RealOEM shows should have originally been in the car. Listing said it was from a 2003 X5. The LCM III I am replacing has part number 61356905875. If i search that part number on realoem, nothing comes up.

I understand that I will need to use BMW Scanner to code the correct VIN and mileage onto the new LCM. I was then of the understanding that I will need to use NCSExpert to code the LCM to match my vehicles original coding. Is there a way to use BMWScanner to code the new LCM, instead of using NCS? I found another forum that offered these instructions to code the VO to the new LCM through BMW Scanner.

1. Open BMWScanner
2. Select "Units" in the top menu bar, and select LCM.
3. Select Reprogramming
4. Select Copy FA
5. Select IKE->LCM

Will this effectively work for coding the new LCM with the correct VO/FA of my car? I know that the one setting i need to make sure is active is LWR-AUT-EXTERN. Since the LCMIV i'm putting in says "without lwr", i'd imagine that this option is already coded. Is this coding available in BMW Scanner? If it isn't, I will take a venture with NCS and hopefully not mess anything up. I just would like the easiest, mess-free route. If there is a clear and concise guide out there that can guide me to getting it done, can someone point the way, or willing to offer NCS training lol.
