e53 broken drivers door carrier Bournemouth

Hello all,

I have just been quoted £519 to get the drivers door catch replaced. Is this reasonable or not?

Does anyone know a reputable garage in the Bournemouth area which would be able to fix this for me.

Thanks,

No. Do it yourself it’s easy. If not there’s no need to pay more than £150 for that job. When you say door catch do you mean the handle and the bits inside?

Thanks for the response. Well I suspect its the carrier based on the other threads on the topic, as it opens from the inside, but the exterior handle does not work.

Do it yourself for about 35 USD if buy a Chinese DHC. It is not difficult, but any alignment problems are in the thread (DHC fix)

I just did that job 2 weeks ago, the carrier had snapped. Door opened from inside and handle just lifted on the outside. Must be some sort of local virus as I’m in Bournemouth. If you buy the carrier I’ll supply the tools if you haven’t got them and show / help you change it. It will just cost you the part.
