How to replace 2006 side mirror glass?
But there don't seem to be any clips on the back of the glass. When I tried to peek behind the glass it seems to be mounted somehow from the center. It almost looks like you have to push the glass straight back, and then down on clips to engage. Thoughts?

The glass pops off the mount by levering it upwards...
![]() The new mirror mounts on the four support tabs and is then pulled down onto the tabs. It may help to use some duct tape on the glass to gain leverage.

Google a backside mirror picture. You'll see the tabs that hold it in place. Leverage it upwards carefully.

Thanks @wpoll. Where did you find those diagrams?
I replaced it, but curiously the replacement was missing the additional 2-wire connector from the original. I used realoem to find the replacement part. What are the additional connector and wires for? Replacement mirror looks blueish.

The original mirror probably has auto-darkening, heated glass is another option which is another 2 wires.

The flying connector is for the EC function (electro-chromatic) - auto-dimming. There are many different side mirror glass options, the "best" being the heated, EC option with Euro wide vision option. This is what I have.... ![]() ![]() Mirror images are from Qsilver7 on this thread: - https://xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-forums/...xtra-plug.html

Thanks all. I'll have to try and search for the part number with EC and heat, and see if Euro wide vision part is avail in USA. I guess I'm glad I purchased from a place that should accept returns..

How is the side mirror EC activated? I thought the rear view mirror EC is activated by the sensor facing the front of the car on the rear view mirror, per radar-mirror.com.

A quick look at the wiring diagram confirms this guess...
