Karma for ruining a proper E53 with a redneck lift kit lol.

Ahhh lol, it's like impossible to find m10x1.5 bolts that are 55mm and all threaded.
Ecstunning is resending the proper bolts, but that's gonna take like a week lol... Well it's only 1.5 inch lift, not much of a redneck ![]() That extra clearance is really nice to have, especially to properly torque all suspension components when the vehicle is on the ground. Might even be able to change the oil without having to raise the vehicle. Considering I somehow managed to crack my oil pan, it's also nice to raise it a bit off the ground. Of course that was my fault for driving without the protection plate, but still. I really like their rocker slide panels as well, but the shipping to Canada is more than the kit's cost... |

Not.so fast...
The 2 bolts for the bottom of the spring plate are also wrong!! The bolts are m10x1.5, while the thread inside the plate is m10x1.0 I have no idea what kind of drunken Friday afternoon worker put this kit together, but this is.ridiculous. I dont have a single spare m10x1.0 bolt, they're all either m10x1.25 or m10x1.5. Why did they decide to use M10x1.0 I have no idea lol I really expected better from ecs tunning. Not only does the kit not include any instructions, like basic torque values for their bolts, all bolts are wrong for the rear part of the kit. I'm starting to think I should've bought the more expensive kit from fluidmotion... ![]()

Finally the proper bolts arrived. I think the 1.5 pinch bolts are higher quality with anti corrosion properties, but at least I can put it together now.
I think it was a really dumb idea for ecs tunning to use extra fine thread on M10 bolts, literally impossible to find them in stores. They said they upgraded to 1.5 pinch bolts now, so the kit I got was a mix of old and new parts...they will now reinspect all the kits so that it doesn't happen again. Now for some reason the spring looks crooked ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Hey Bmwe5320023.0, Sorry you had that experience with the ECS lift kit. I am an engineer at ECS and a fellow E53 owner and I just wanted to follow up with you. We opened and inspected every single kit we had on shelf and found only 4 sets that had the wrong hardware. We corrected the faulty sets and are going to inspect future sets to make sure this doesn't happen again. I turned on my email notifications and will try to remember to check this forum but if you have any more issues related to the ECS overland products feel free to reach out and hopefully I can be of assistance!
