X5chemist will become famous soon enough
Ouch. With the dash out, what else can be replaced? It's been in the 80's twice last week. The A/C is back in action. Twice I heard mine squeal as it stopped spinning.

Damn, I thought the same job on a Volvo 240 was a create-a-garage-sale event... this is worse. As someone said upstream, Volvo and apparently BMW designed the entire car around the blower.

It looks worse than it is; I just labeled everything well and had about 40 ziplock bags of various fasteners. And noted how many connectors and to what they were plugged into. Anything that might rattle got wrapped in felt tape.

I replaced the ignition switch (just the electrical part) and cleaned up everything before reinstalling. I added some Dynamat here and there and wrapped anything that might rattle or vibrate in felt tape. Remember to disconnect the battery as both front airbags need to come out.
