Hey if anyone has a spare working nav/mid/big-screen head unit for sale either E39 or E53 (or maybe a 7er?) with the motorized front panel, let me know. I don't really care about the condition of the LCD as long as it's working and usable.

I didn't want to post this in the wanted forum because scammers (from experience).

Makes sense (must try that one day myself) - although most vendors only sell a single display module for both e39 and e53 variants.

The polarizer must be in the display itself as there is no additional filter in front the display module. I've had mine apart several times, fixing "dead pixels" (which is actually a bad ribbon cable connection, not actual dead pixels)

How did you fix the ribbon cables? I think I may have damaged one or more when I replaced then screen because the new one won't light up, and neither did the old one when I swapped it back.

I was referring to the MID unit, not the NAV unit. You cannot really repair the flat (printed) ribbon cable but you can replace them...

For the MID display...

For the NAV screen...
