Question Door handle carriers-a pain

Just had to replace my left front door handle carrier again. It is a pain. The plastic hard inner trim piece plastic welded to the top of the door card came apart. This happened on the right side and I ended up gluing it back on. Didn't bother this time. Waiting on a new handle as the existing one has little tabs that holds the handle in which have worn off. Put ever thing back together and all most cried as I left a little torch inside bottom of the door so I had to take it apart again. In the process broke off a trim clip housing and the small led housing that shows a light to the inside opening handle. I originally purchased a replica carrier for it and that didn't work well. Never again.

Anyway, to post what I wanted to originally say: I own a 2005 E53 4.4i and I was wondering what year did they fix the carrier issue where you have to replace it after a number of years. I believe it is still an issue with the E70. Does anyone know? Might impact on the next bmw I purchase.

cheers

Just saw your fix for future DHC replacement. Too late now, and I am not taking that door apart again now.

I think all E53s have the problem, but the door handles are totally different on the E70.

The E70 has its own door handle problems, at least with the Comfort Access system, which appears to be an even worse design but in a totally different way.
