Multiple Faults and Errors

About two weeks ago, I encountered a problem with my car that persisted over a few days, occurring around three times. Concerned about the issue, I decided to take the car to the service center for inspection. To my dismay, the center informed me that several errors related to the driver assistance systems were logged. In order to rectify the situation, BMW's testing plan was to update the vehicle software and subsequently recalibrate the driver assistance systems.

Initially, this may not have seemed like a significant issue. However, it turned out to be much more troublesome than anticipated. The recalibration process took an astonishing three days and required driving the car for 200 miles. It was only through the expertise of the shop foreman that the driver assistance systems were eventually recalibrated.

Despite the apparent functionality of the driver assistance systems at present, the augmented reality view images have been severely affected. They appear distorted, washed out, and overexposed. It is worth mentioning that the AR system utilizes the same camera, known as KAFAS, as the driver assistance system.

Based on my experience, I would recommend adopting a wait-and-see approach to determine if the errors persist. If they do, it would be wise to take action. However, if the issues do not reoccur, it is advisable to wait and avoid unnecessary hassle.

It is my understanding that the car periodically communicates with the BMW servers to verify the functionality of the driver assistance features. This is particularly crucial for the driver assistance+ feature, as it is only available for a limited time and can be removed at the discretion of the company if necessary.

Unfortunately, BMW's servers have encountered outages in recent weeks. This has resulted in various problems with cars, making the situation even more challenging for owners like myself.

In conclusion, the multiple faults and errors I encountered with my car's driver assistance systems have been a frustrating ordeal. The lengthy recalibration process, coupled with the distorted augmented reality view images, has left me with concerns about the overall reliability of the system. It is important to be aware of any persistent errors and to stay informed about potential server outages that may affect the functionality of the driver assistance features in BMW vehicles.
