Apologies but.. Link to the "Best" Window Regulator Replacement Thread?

Any internal links will be most appreciated! Amongst the many existing frustration in life, I must dive into the driver's door panel.....

Thanks

Just look at a few threads/videos to get an idea of what's involved and do what makes the most sense to you.

Assuming your motor is inop...Factory regulator for longevity OR ...https://a.co/d/0j22Kcvq & https://a.co/d/02QC8DYj. CHEAP, EASIER than removing whole window, and my first set is going on two years in one e53, 3 months in another. They work perfectly...just have to lock ferrule into notch with a needle-nose pliers. I'm sure that this was missed with any of the negative reviewers. If you have any questions about install, I'm happy to advise!

Upgrade the black clips. They are notorious for breaking. I need to reinstall the OEM regulator. I fixed the broken slide clips. Aftermarket regulators move so slow compared to OEM.
Use this guide for clips: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JwFFd7OJGaI

Thanks. I have replaced rear door handle carriers before, but no window regulators.

Drivers door window had been rattling when closing the door with the window partially open- I assumed the black plastic mounting bits were failing. The window has failed in the lowered position- I had lowered it, and it would not go back up.

I have the door panels off, but the window is firmly stuck down, so trying to figure out the next step. Hate messing about when the air bag is involved.

yeah, did that to disconnect and remove. The window being stuck at the bottom of its travel has me stuck at the moment.

Alright! You are halfway there! Next step is to take 6" of duct tape and fold one inch of one end back onto itself. THEN, press down the exposed 4" against the bare glass behind vapor barrier. Then, plug airbag back in BEFORE reconnecting battery (if you've disconnected battery) and screw one airbag bracket bolt halfway into door to secure it. The objective is to raise the glass 5" or so in order to line up hole in regulator with screw to remove old bracket/install new bracket. So, with airbag pugged back in, so that battery can be reconnected - you'll then re-plug window control switch. THEN, pull up on 1" flap of duct tape while pulling switch. If motor doesn't run - you've burnt it out...if it tries to help...you are in for a CHEAP fix! Use barely assistive motor, along with duct tape flap to line up that screw hole. You can then remove bracket holding screw and go for bracket/clips replacement. Any questions - msg me your ph# and I'll fill in the blanks! Good luck!

You're gonna need to remove the vapor barrier but I don't remember it being difficult to access the window once you had that off. I've had to get in and repair front windows three or four times.

Probably a broken clip or the screw backed out.

I just flip the airbag 180° and reattach to the door. You can't close the door but you can test the latch with the door open (it's better to do that anyhow).
