X5 E70 inner tail light vs X5 E53.

Hi all,
Old timer here, since 2005.
Still got the X5.. Only added about 6000,miles since my last post, so still only has 57,000!
Haven't done any nice mods to it for years, so going to do a few. One is the rear bumper custom diffuser to complement the 4.8is one I already have, the other is the inner tail light off the E70.
Anyone done this and will it fit. I ordered one and will find out next week but if it fits, I think it will look updated and OE. If I don't like it, I send it back.
Comments, criticisms, all welcomed

Interesting mod! The E70 looks a little more round. Side by side pics would be interesting. My interest is mirrors!

I am just contemplating fitting the inner trunk light. Measurements are pretty close and hopefully they are exact or unnoticeable!
Really hope they fit because they will look bette
than the existing ones which don't really go that well with the outside ones, in my opinion.
The outer lights, as you said, are more round and won't fit.

The mirrors should be easy to adapt. Thinking about that too. Like the M3, M4 type but much easier for me to buy used and modify these.
AliExpress has a good choice of E70 and E53 with M3 look. Have a look there..

Personally I don't think it would look good mixing and matching different style lights inner vs. outer. Especially since both versions of E70 used "CELIS" style light bars, either the 4 bar or 2 bar style - the E53 outer doesn't have these, so they would just sort of awkwardly terminate at the outer E53 light.

E70 also put the reverse light in the outer, E53 had it in the inner - so even if they physically fit (which I also doubt) then you'd have to figure something out for the reverse lights.

Thanks for the feedback, appreciate it! One thing is for sure as I already stated! If it fits and doesn't look right or doesn't match or go in line with the outer tail light, I most definitely WILL NOT fit it!
However, if it does look right and can be fitted, then I am pretty sure it will not be as difficult as fitting a face lift front grill on my preface lift..

Regarding your comment about the e70 inner light looking out of place on the E53! It's the opinion of a lot that the inner light on the E53
Looks out of place.

The wiring difference is the least problem.

Let's await and see!

Do you have any ideas on what mirrors you will be getting and are you wanting adapt /modify?

Someone has already done it! Let me find the post. Mine fold but unfold. The switch levers are worn out. Finding bolt switch replacements has been a little difficult.
