E53 rear axle ride height adjustment

Looking for any experiences with scan and programming tools that will allow for both rear axle (only) ride height adjustment and tweaking, brake bleeding, along with the normal code reading and resetting functions. It seems that the ride height adjustment is the long pole on the one axle e53s.

I’ve got an older foxwell that has been reliable for basic stuff, but I can’t get inpa working any longer on my old laptop, and the foxwell won’t do the ride-height job on my rear air springs. I’ve also tried pa soft and a handful of others and haven’t found one that will do the 2002 e53 rear spring adjustment.

The bonus would be finding one that also can code-read my wife’s G05 x5, along with the above.

Thanks all

I needed newer for wife's F10. I got the NT 710 and very happy with it!

It will do actual coding! I haven't used it for coding yet because i use bimmercode. The interface is way better.

Thanks, I’ll look at the NT710. Is bimmercode PC based software?

E53 rear axle ride height adjustment

Bimmercode and bimmerlink are iphone apps use Bluetooth to communicate to the obd port. Much nicer than WiFi like the cheap apps.

They don't work on e53 but work great on F10 and E70!

NT 710 is an Android or window mobile based tablet with built in WiFi so it can update itself which is one of the best things about it.

I don't know if the apps are available for Android.

I would just try to get INPA working again, it is the best for these cars - it does allow adjustment of ride height in INPA itself.

Other than not speaking German, or even English well, I agree. I had it set up and working well, but at some point it stopped working and can’t connect to the x5 now. I suspect my laptop updated at some point and a setting was changed.

Nest stop is an uninstall/reinstall.

I do like the foxwell 710 that some guys have, even when/if I get inpa working. I’ve asked them if it supports the 50e, or will at some point.

Solved

So I decided on the NT 710, but I also spent some time today uninstalling amd then reinstalling Mikes easy BMW tools so I could have INPA again. After the install on my 4 or 5 year old Windows 11 laptop I went thru the readme file instructions on setting the USB ports to Com1 (default was 3 after install), and voila, it works on my e53.

Ironically I temporarily bricked my rear axle suspension with the 710 too. I think (emphasis on think) that I selected self level suspension “2” versus “1” when I was trying to bring the right rear up about 15 mm to level the back out from left to right sides. I figured out my mistake and canceled the operation, but this morning had a self leveling suspension inactive message waiting for me when I drove the car.

The semsors and compressor tested fine on the new foxwell, but the message persisted. It did finally clear when I reset the “line mode”, which as it turns out is “assembly line” mode. I’m assuming that the suspension module completely reset when I selected this option.

So after getting inpa up and running this am I brailled my way into the single axle “tune” page and messed around until I got the right and left sides set equally.

So far I’m happy with the 710, which should also work on my wife’s 50e G05.

E53 rear axle ride height adjustment

Look for the coding on the g05. I think you can fix a bunch of lunacy from yhe factory.

• disable stupid camera alerts
• program key for roll up windows
• disable the panic mode from trunk button

There's a dozen others i did on my e70 and wife's f10

Oh yeah, the infamous "line" mode...
I did pretty much the same thing, but it was just before taking the wife to her final prenatal appointment and had to drive her there on bumpy roads while in Zamboni mode!

I think she's forgiven me as she only brings the incident up once or twice a year....
