Driver side brake light out - but not the bulb

So I got the bulb warning on the dash so replace the bulb but no go. Upon looking at the filament, it looks intact so I moved the bulb on the passenger side and sure enough it works fine. I move the working pass side bulb to the driver's side and again no go. What gives?

Thanks

The lamp holder socket/assembly is likely at fault. Maybe try google, there is lots of info here on this.

Thanks
Bulb holder. I have to replace mine regularly. They are available quite cheaply online, though I had to adjust mine with a file a little to get a decent fit. Holding the car in drive on the brakes at traffic signals is the culprit!

wpoll will become famous soon enough
Many of us have used a little solder on the bulb holder contacts and on the metal plate the bulb holder connects into... seems to last well if done before the plate gets too damaged.
