Bilstein or OEM sachs...

Is anyone running Bilsteins? How does it compare to the OEM ones? I will be replacing all four corners soon but I am debating between the two. I want a firmer ride but not too harsh for my old butt.

Thanks

Do you have sport suspension? Wife's e53 didn't mine did and the stock sport was perfect for me where hers was too soft.

The OE struts on my 2005 weren't Sachs, they were Delphi. The Bilstein B4s I used as replacements are pretty much exactly the same ride quality (meaning good).

I hear Bilstein B6s are firmer but harsher, which is why I opted for the B4s.

I had Bilstein B4's on the rear of my 4.8is.

They handled exactly like OEM

My OE were Sachs and after 18 years of use, I retired them (not leaking or anything, just preventative maintenance) and I went back to OE Sachs and yep firmer. So mine did get soft over time and you just don't notice it. I love the OE Sachs for my ride comfort but you may not. It's like you may like a certain wine and I do not. All personal taste

I bought Sachs a few years ago for my 3.0 w/ sport package and the lower bushings on the shocks are toast already. Shocks were torqued on the ground so I’m not sure what happened to them. Probably gonna go with Bilstein B4s next.

I put B4s on all four corners earlier this year and like them a lot. I think they are slightly more firm than the OE shocks and struts that were in the car. But to be fair, the OE stuff was quite old. The car does feel very planted now as well. No complaints from me and I’d do the B4s again.
