With my setup, 80% ethanol, 20% petrol, and this stuff,

https://www.lucasoil.com/product/saf...h-stabilizers/

My kids say it smells like fireworks. Gun powder maybe?

Whatever ever the case, it definitely has a smell!

Mocked up the cat last night, cut the mid pipe in two spots, tacked the new cat in place, then dropped the mid pipe to weld it solid all around. Putting it back in this morning, then going to flash the EU2 tune on it and go for a test drive.

Everyone I know who's done a cat delete ends up putting it back on because of the stink.

I bought a catted downpipe for my F30 N55 but ended up never installing it because according to other users that brand (VRSF) would throw a code and I used to live in an area that required an annual inspection which included an OBD scan, and I wasn't interested in removing that thing every year for a day. There are downpipes that will not throw codes but they are very, very expensive.

Ended up returning it unopened.

Well got it back in, deleted the SAP, and then loaded in the EU2 tune. Happy to say there is now no smell and no check engine lights after driving for about a week. Will have to dive into some DIY tuning later with MS4X and TunerPro but for now this will work.

Here's the install with some before/after sound clips: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hbFDS7TXpYQ

Sweet! I noticed yours has the same lifter tick mine had at start up. It could go on for a bit. I've reduced the start up tick on mine using Cera Tec Engine Oil Additive from Liquid Moly. I even used it on my '21 HEMI. Both engines responded well to Cera Tec. One engine has 165k and HEMI just rolled 40k miles. One bottle is good for 30k miles.
