Well boys, we're near the end of the road I fear

Yesterday I got what I thought was a simple coil pack symptom: Missing on one cylinder after warming up. Cool motor and it's fine.

But it's not so far. I think it's the DME. Checking wires from the injector today and then swapping an injector will prove it.

Does anyone here know how to program a DME? Has anyone had a service program it for you? Whom would you recommend or how would you proceed from here? I am again without a job, so I am exploring the self-service and leaning on random acts of kindness from people more talented than I.

Thanks.

Sweet Baby Jesus Props!!

I read the title and thought something serious had happened.

I will look for the name of the shop guys were getting DME work/swaps from.

!! Thank you! I will use this to repair the DME. Then, it's on to newer and... different(?) things? Headed to Knoxville next Tuesday.

Ole Blue will be sold after I retrieve the unicorn parts for installation on the white one. THAT will be a cool car when it's done.

It was an injector! Now I just need one to find one! At least I can sell a running vehicle.

The Euro clears and big ass StopTech 6pot calipers with rear calipers is coming off Blue and going on White.

White has Euro clears already, so the dynamic Xenon Euro clear unicorns will be up for sale. They need to be clear coated again as the clear from 5 yrs ago has started to peel on one side.

So, what's all the hubub about? Well... She's home, fellas:

2015 X5 3.5 M Sport package
110k miles from a well-documented owner with 5k oil changes.
Cleanest interior I have seen on 100k car since we sold my mother in law's '01 E53.

I'll probably do an intro and the story over in F25. But I think I am going to find more support over at the other board where F25 seems to have a bunch more support.

More on the Great E53 Unicorn Part Swap in the coming weeks!

I think that little silver thing lights up, don't it? The mirrors do as well- also, I think. LOL
That was my 1st 'mod'. I never liked the marketing of these years.. X3 XDrive 3.5i mouthful o' bull.

Gone!
It only needs one thing: Soul. It's a Lexus. Spongy, rubbery, quicker than snot, but so is the N62- especially without CATs. But at 135, the E53 just wants to go faster. The F25 makes you question the brand at 120.

Feels lighter. Feels cheaper. Feels less stable on the offramps.

OTH: Feels less deadful about the next failure. Feels like a new project. Feels like 27MPG on the maiden voyage home.

Life has it's balance, I suppose.

Ummmmm that IS km/h I hope?

I got the next-gen X5 (G-something?) as a rental once, with the B58 motor. It went real fast but felt huge.

Your N55 is known for leaking oil filter housing gaskets and leaky valve covers. I have that engine in my 3er, and so far no leaks despite being almost 11 years old but with low mileage. Both are a large pain in the ass to replace, and the OFHG failure can lead to serpentine belt failure or even ingestion through the front main seal. Just a heads-up.

Yeah. There's a little seepage that I'm keeping an eye on. Also, the downpipe. I have wondered aloud if the N55 downpipe from anything else would fit another N55? Like is there something in the way that's not there on an 3'er or 5'er with the same motor.

The downpipe, intake and intercooler are the 1st things I will do. Both for peace of mind in heat soak and maintenance as well as the performance. The N55 is great when everything is spooled. I want that torque quite a bit sooner.
