battery recon query

happy new year to all, okays not managed to replace whole lock/latch mechanism from last year but for now i can manually unlock driver door and rest open close with fob...since then also starting has been a tad sluggish....starter replaced not too long ago, but battery a long time ago.....quick question if i want to try recon old battery is it agreed not a good idea to do this whilst the battery is plugged in wired in car as the ctek may pump out more during this phase and mess with other electronics in x5?

i dont have a closed space so cant rip out the existing and leave car unlocked and rear open during this process....so could slapping in engine bay a baby working battery from a smaller ie simulate a jump start and then removing old one for service and leaving small one in allow me to lock unlock car you think?

Charge/Recharge at the engine bay...If I'm understanding you correctly.

A little battery like 6ah sla will work to operate locks but I wasn't able to work my locks when i had my jump pack attached under the hood when i had my battery out of the car might need baby battery in the trunk.

When i pulled my battery for charging i just left my back seat down so i can climb back and use emergency release to open trunk.

Just be sure not to leave the floor propoed up.

He wants to attach a charger that may send damaging voltages so needs to disconnect the battery from the car.

Everything should work normally if you have a battery or voltage supply attached on jump start connections even when the main battery is disconnected.

Maybe your jump pack isn't working as a stable voltage supply in this manner.

I should mention that was with my new car e70. Still it should work I don't know why it didn't. I do have to set the jump pack to boost mode to supply power when battery is lower than 11v and thought i had.

I think the main battery positive is a pass through to the main supply at the back. I'm wondering if there's s disconnect at the positive battery terminal. I just remember being very surprised i couldn't figure out the logic at all.

I've done it on my E70 also. No problem with a 25 A power supply. After starting the engine the vehicle would work with the supply from alternator even with disconnected battery. Jump start point, starter motor and alternator are all on the same cable from engine bay to trunk. The battery is there to able vehicle start and of course makes the voltage more stable.

Yup at the jump points cos I dont have a jump pack will connect to jump points a small battery leave it engine bay, remove battery at rear so i can recon it, and then lock car and get back to reconnecting battery at rear once the recon is done......yup have to try the emergency release to see if it works anyhow like you mentioned here and have the rear seats down as well...so I guess? and i have ready elsewhere not a good idea to use the recon mode of the charger via the jump points, best battery is removed. Thanks for everyones keen feedback on this.

While driving the e83...the cable disconnected from the jump point.
As I drove power was depleating and the car started shutting down various components I noticed when the head lights cancelled but yet fog lights were on...then fan, then radio, I'm still driving and going at a nice clip as I pulled into the Walmart parking lot the steering got continuously harder.
Purchased a jump pack and she started right back up.
Problem: I had not securely fitted the new battery cable copper lug to the jumper post under the hood.
Should have purchased jump pack long before now.

If you just disconnect ground u can use the recon mode without having to pull the battery. I don't know why the jump point in front won't work though.
