From amber to clear side marks??

Hi everybody, I´m a newbie and have been surfing this boar for the last days, great site you have here, best on the net by far .
I´m going to Germany ten days from now to buy a BMW X5 4.4i.
Have been reading some scary stories here about X5 poor reliability which was a surprise to me. Anyway it wont me change my minds regarding my purchase.

I would like to ask a few questions.
Is it necessary to change the all lights to go from this

To this

Or is it possible to change just the amber glass fo the with one?

How about cost, in case I need a new complete set of lights, how much would it cost? Does it come with the lights?
And the rear lights, how much for a set of clear rear lights?

Thanks in advance.

Don't worry about reliability. People post here only when they have problems with X, just like you go to doctor when you are sick. Quite a few members have removed amber markers here. What year is the X5 you want to do this?

We've had 2 X5's zero problems apart from:

- door handles that need constant replacing (paint peels).
- one rear light fixture melted causing lights to not turn on.
- 1 heated seat module failing.

In our 'extended' family of friends, in europe we all had 6 X5's, and could not remember any problems either (good variety of 3.0's 3.0d and 4.4's).

In terms of the ML, the X5 is oodles more reliable then it. Maybe not an RX, but who likes an RX anyway?

Thanks for the links and answears. I´m interested on a X5 with Sport Package that comes already with the clear look, but there´s also another car w/out S.Package and this one has the yellow turning signals.
But I believe the S.P is the way to go.
