Unfortunately no warranty for me ... I have about 120,000 miles ...

I really hope that you are joking, and that you are not advocating fraud.

My advice would be to tell the dealer up front. Ask how much to reflash it. Otherwise, you could end up paying for unnecessary diagnostic time.

Nothing makes a repair diagnosis more expensive than a customer that withholds key information.

No I was not joking If he screwed up the pcm with a programmer it is quite simple for them to reflash it. It does not cost them really anything, except a lil time.

Now maybe if he was running some nitrous and blew the engine and took the kit off and went in to play dumb I could agree with your stance, but with a simple reflash, nope, I say play dumb. :p

Well it would not matter anyway, in the end they will still charge me since I'm not under warranty.

Exactly my point. Time is what they sell in a service department. And if they turn around and charge that time to BMW, we are back to fraud. Honesty is usually the best policy, IMO.

Well, I wouldn't call it fraud ... I would rather call it "get back to them". I've been through enough problems with my car so BMW owes me a lot of "time".
