Question 2002 X5 3.0 - Doors won't lock with key, or center button

The battery has been dead on the fob for more than a year. We have always used the key in the lock/unlock on the driver door.

The Key feels like theres no resistance turning left or right (not stuck). No sound when turning the key either way.

The center button does nothing, no sound or activation of the locks. No liquid has been reported spilled on the center button.

We hooked up an ODBII computer and tried to actuate the locks - Failed.

Fuzes all are good in the back passenger side. The liftgate latch opens easily. The 12V battery is less than a year old.

I also have a fault on Basic module 5: Internal fault, voltage 00. Also lighting module (LM) codes.

I wouldn't think the lighting codes would have anything to do with the door locks not working. I could be wrong though, BMW has proven me wrong a few times
