DHC = Door Handle Carrier, and if you've owned an e53 for more than 5 minutes, you'll have changed at least one. Probably more.

Mine started breaking about 8 years ago when the X5 got booted out the garage. Issues started during winter. The two window regulators also broke. But now I know the easy fix for DHC instead of replacing with new, if it breaks for the third time .

Winters are pretty mild here, so that may have helped the DHCs survive thus far.

One front window regulator went out, so we replaced the other as a precaution. The first broke at a most inopportune time. We only replaced the black plastic clip and the two supporting brackets on each side.

We also did two front outer CV boots, one at about year 17 and the other 19, using the "30 minute" method... so some of the normal stuff has happened to the garage queen.
