01 X5 E53 rim size question

Hello all,

I have a set of 18" BMW rims that I can't find much info on, and I am wondering if they would be safe to use on my X5. Part number shows 508018452513, and Google doesn't pull up anything besides an old eBay listing.

The rim shows 8Jx18 H2 ET45. Title of the listing says they are for a BMW 3 Series / X5 2012-2017, and the listing description says it has a center bore of 79mm, which doesn't seem correct, and that hub rings would be needed for fitment to an X5.

Most of the stock wheels for my 2001 X5 show 81/2JX18 ET:48.

Would these rims work for my X5?

You just need centering rings.

Use plastic not metal ones. I've used both and the aluminum ones turn into a battery and weld to the hub i had to cut them off.

Afaik any e 70 wheel will fit e 53 woth centering rings.

I had to go the other way to use my e 53 wheels on my e 70. That requires spacer with big inner hole small outer hub and 20 longer lug bolts.

Thanks for the quick reply! I imagine the 79mm bore they mention in the eBay listing is incorrect, as my limited research has shown that the center bore doesn't typically go that high for BMW rims. I suppose i could go out and measure just to make sure it isn't actually that size. Wondering why there isn't more information on these rims, as they have a BMW part number on them, but it doesn't even pull up on RealOEM's site for any model.

So the difference between the 8J and 8 1/2J is not important then? I know my offset is in range, and shouldn't have to be considered.

Regardless of fit, the wheel needs to be strong enough to not fracture. A wheel intended for an X5 should be strong enough. I would check on whether a 3-series sedan wheel would be strong enough here.

So, I've found out they are made my Moda, and I've found a couple other references to them online, and im seeing that they should be just fine to use, as they were listed to work with the 2012-2017 X5s. im going to measure the center bore and see if it need the centering rings.

This is what's needed to use those wheels on your car.
