Hello BMW gang...
Small problem here.
This peeling to the black on the pillar. It's understandable the X is 20yrs old.
Anyone know how to address this?

Wow, mine are faded but not that bad. I've been looking for a solution too. The roof bars are in worse shape. I was thinking of carbon fiber tape. Or a wrap.

My roof bars are spotless...
But if they are that bad I'd just find a pair at the salvage yard...I see plenty.

I've used rubberized spray paint on my roof bars as it seems to be more durable

I have a roof bar that has completely lost the black covering in one spot; I used silicone tape on it, but it eventually peels off. I also tried "liquid tape", but it looks uneven, so back to the tape.

I never thought of using rubberized spray (?? dunno why not ??), though I have used bedliner spray on my trucks and trailer, FlexSeal on a garage-roof repair (tree limb punched a hole in it), and PlastiDip spray on wheels and a grille (the grille was done in 2011, and still looks good), so I'm glad rwilson suggested it.

Seems the OEM paint bubbles up. I see small spots on the rails. Do pillars do the same thing? Does anyone have before and after pictures? Plasti Dip sounds good

I figured those bubbles were from aluminum corrosion under the paint, like the side view mirrors.
