Not pictured are two new axle nuts. andrewynn, now I understand why you mean inner and outer races. The hub actually has two bearings. Each side can spin independently. The Germany stamped bearing shows a nice gap between the races. It's stamped FAG too. I'll probably wait a few more weeks. The hum is not bad enough to stop driving it. It will be warmer by end of Feb and March.

Picked up a swivel E14 socket. I didn't look for a 1/4" drive E14. The 3/8" socket should be enough to reach behind the axle shaft.
March warm weather is coming. It's 80F this week though.

i used wobble extensions to get around the outer CV joint they are a tighter turn but as long as you can push the axle in far enough it'll diy tree job. I don't recall it being a straight shot im pretty sure i used two wobble extensions and a couple straight until i found a good spot to fit the ratchet.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I used 2-3 wobble extensions to get around the outer cv joint. I also used ⅜ near the bearing and adapter to ½ in the middle so I could get my impact gun to spin them on. The first time I did this I used the ”Dr. Seuss ratchet” to access the back of the hub while sitting outside the wheel. The slots cut in the bolt turned out to be the biggest help in reassembly as it only took mere seconds to snug all four bolts. Helps to have both sides of the car off the ground so you can turn the wheel to align the lug holes. You do need a very long flat blade bit. You cannot tighten from the tip so you still need to climb under to get them torqued. Torque wrench will still read within 5% at normal slight wobble angles. If it starts getting extreme I’d add 5-10% to the spec but this case I just used spec there was maybe 5° offset. Show the bearing race that’s worn when you’re finally do the job. –awr– Using Tapatalk VIP on iPhone

Nice pictures. I'm aching to replace the rear bearings. I'll run a tap and die set on parts. I have thin diamond disc available for my cordless grinder. A manual impact will be used to hammer the bolts. Hopefully using the manual impact, I can use a ratchet to remove bolts. The rear will be lifted and put on jack stands. I'll have a second set for back up support.
Time buy a mini 1/2" impact! Two 1/2" impacts I have are big for tight spaces.
