PacNW 4.4 E53 in GREAT condition but sadly needs a new motor - perfect project car?

Hey all!

If you are in the PacNW and are interested in a perfect E53 for a motor transfer, please let me know. I am happy to discuss with you all of the details, upgrades, maintenance and more. This would be a perfect car if you had a 4.4 already and just wanted to swap motors into an upgraded shell. She threw a timing chain and ate one side of the motor, and needs a new heart.

What I am trying to avoid is a charity that will break her apart.. not appreciate how good she really is, nor understand the amount of work and time and upgrades.

This is more about going to a good home, as it were than even selling it and I am sure yall will understand that.

I rebuilt 3 of those motors after timing chain self destruct.

Cost about $1200/1400 inn parts and took maybe 15-20 hours@

Had to pull the heads and replace about 1/3 of the valves.

It's possible to fix in-place is my point.

One of the three caught before the chain broke. One the chain chewed up a bunch of the chain cover and off course the guides were completly destroyed.

NICE! That is very good info thank you.. not sure I want to put in that much to repair her now for sure, but good info.

I really do love this car and maintained her immaculately over the years, inside and out, including a bunch of big ticket repairs and rebuilds and more. I would love to see her go to a good home.. maybe someone with a thrashed X5 but good motor and just swap.

It isn't LeMans blue is it?

You can't let a little blown engine ruin everything. They are pretty easy to change out on these cars.

If you lived near southeast Wisconsin i would definitely work something out.

I just replaced the motor in my car and wife's. Have a customer in the queue with S63 2019 with spun rod bearings. About to do his car in maybe six weeks

If it was a 3.0i, I would probably be all over it. I especially avoided V8's searching for an X5. Best of luck! Hope she finds a new home!
