A/C fan replacement 4.4, 4.8 complication
I'm completely stumped by it! Part number 64546921381 shows it's compatible with all models and years, 3.0, 4.4, 4.6 and 4.8 So on my 4.8l I have an intercooler, and the fan simply won't sit properly. In this video, the guy has the same problem Starts at 8:50 https://youtu.be/Ta-xl3Auhsg?si=RrFjx08Ynxq89HIL I don't understand how the fan is listed compatible, but you need to cut it to make it fit? Has anyone had the same issue? This is really weird! |

Why does your 4.8 have an intercooler?
![]() Maybe you need part number 64546921382 which is the fan for the 3.0 diesel which fits over our intercooler. Or you can just trim the bottom plastic off the one you have.

Sorry wrong terminology. I misspoke. It's just an oil cooler for the engine oil.
But yeah, looking for those who've replaced their AC fans on their LCI 4.4 - 4.8 I ended up just cutting off the bottom piece of the plastic and the fan installed fine after that. But still, I usually don't have to modify parts if I'm purchasing a well known brand off a part number... |
