X5 E53 3.0D INTERCOOLER HOSE IMPLICATIONS IF HAS TEAR
Greetings again to all , right I ran the above through AI (rightly or wrongly) and it said below, anyone had any experience with a torn hose and below?
Immediate Symptoms' Loss of Power: The most common symptom is a sudden or progressive loss of power, as the turbocharger cannot maintain the required air pressure for optimal combustion. (DIDN'T HAVE) Excessive Black Smoke: A tear causes an "air-starved" condition (rich fuel mixture), leading to thick black smoke from the exhaust during acceleration.(BLACK SMOKE YES ON FLOORING x5-thick and constant black smoke no) Loud Hissing or Whistling: You may hear a distinct "whooshing" or high-pitched whistling sound under load as compressed air escapes through the tear.(HAD THIS TUNE FROM DAY ONE so need to check if gone now that the bad hose has been replaced) Limp Mode: The ECU may detect the boost pressure deviation and put the vehicle into "limp mode" to protect the engine, severely limiting RPM and speed. (YES have been into limp mode a handful of times and reason I took car to garage, who whilst doing their thing discovered the torn hose)
