Yeah, not bad, but it's an auto and they do you use plenty of road salt/brine in Virginia.

I am picking knits, but the aftermarket hitch has me asking how they wired it it in...I hope they at least bought the factory (or factory-like) harness and module.

The one in IL I might go look at next week while I’m up there.

If it didn't have manual trans in that condition it would probably be worth about $4500. Is there really a $5400 premium for a manual transmission? Since its in Illinois I'd love to see what the undercarriage looks like.

I went and drove this thing today. I'm here on a work trip.
  • Dead battery, but he had a jump box
  • A little underbody corrosion, nothing bad.
  • Not from IL, sold new in MA and last reg was in VA. Unsure why it's here.
  • Pano sunroof scares the crap out of me. It appeared to work but I heard a wind whistle from it on the drive, and some complaint sounds from the motors.
  • Heavy clutch, but no sign of wear.
  • Interior wear is mostly armrests. Not bad otherwise.
  • Nice color, paint isn't bad but I'm not very tall and could not see the condition on the roof.
  • Steering off-center, needs alignment
  • 20" wheels but 17" spare. Was that normal?
  • Front door cards both loose so somebody has been in there. All windows work, driver's door lock actuator is dead but the others are OK.
  • Supplied key fobs are unsurprisingly dead.
  • Low mileage, but that means all the things that die around then have died and been replaced, or are about to die? Could get expensive.
  • With a jump box it fired immediately. Drove well, no clunks, cold AC, shifts without crunching, clutch is def heavier than my 5-speed but it's a different box.
  • Clean engine bay, no oily shmutz.
  • Code on cluster is "4x4" with a triangle. Did not have my Ancel handy.
  • Aftermarket head unit with some kind of Android UI

Obviously, overpriced, but I would consider $US5500–6000 if the sunroof is proven to work and not leak, they put a new battery in it and get the alignment sorted. Does that sound fair?

If you turned the wheel full left and right and the 4x4 light didn't go away could be a number of things. The SAS comes to mind. They are not fun to replace, but it's a pretty easy repair all things considered. I think you estimate of the true value of that X with the caveats is pretty correct. You can probably plan on having to put a couple grand into it.

What is the SAS?

Any operations of the pano roof I should do to verify it’s in working order? My 2001 only has the little sunroof. Which works fine!

Run the pano roof fully open and then close it. There is a common point of failure on them that the rear glass won't come back down.

The SAS, steering angle sensor is located on the steering shaft under the dash.
