Lever on ECE headlamp unit for LHD/RHD
The lever lifts a little shield inside the lens which stops it dazzling oncoming traffic when you switch the headlamp between LHD or RHD use. I'm told this is on the back underneath a rubber grommit but I've yet to see this in real life and be able to tell whether a particular headlamp is suitable for my (UK) car. |

I have a Jap model headlight unit for RHD. It has a rubber bung on top of the low beam housing and a little grey metal lever below you slide to the right(looking from rear of lamp.) to "kill" the RHD light pattern.
Also it is not necessary to remove bumpers etc. If you look at the rear of light housing you will see two lower screws that attach the light unit to the headlamp carrier. If you remove these screws along with the 2 on top the unit will slide out enough to allow easy removal of the trim piece. Then you can lift it forward and clear of the headlight washers. That's how it worked on my '01. Last edited by Zulu95; 02-21-2006 at 03:48 PM. |
