WTF!!!! My key is stuck in the ignition. any advice? Please!

I go to work i get there shut my car off go to take the key out and the damn thing wont come out of the ignition. I tried for like 10 minutes. I kept turning it on shutting it off playing with the steering wheel. Even went for a ride came back and the damn key still wont come out. so right now my X is in the parking lot unlocked with the keys in the ignition. And its satarday and the dealers are closed till monday. What the hell do i do. Has this ever happened to anyone before and do you know how to get the key out. I would just bring it home and put it in the garage and drive one of the Ms aroung till monday but on top of everything it is supposed to start snow in a couple of hours. Im just F**king pist off right now.

There's most likely something wrong with your shift lever position switch. It's not reading that it's in park. Same thing happend to me a couple times, just kind of played with it. Has surfaced in a while.

Like vin said, have you tried playing with the shift lever? This one time at band camp, I forgot to put it into park when I turned off the car and the key doesn't come out. Actually I don't know if the key even goes into the off position without it in park.

it happened to personanongrata when we worked on this car. Pop the top cover off (around the the gear lever) make sure that the harness is plugged in all the way. Try a couple times jamming on the brake pedal and also banging it into park. If that doesn't work, have it towed to the dealer..

That happened to me when my transimission got stuck. Dealer had to replace something between the shifter and linkage.

Can you turn the key to the on position and move the gears?

do not turm the engine on ! Just turn the key to the first possition ,then do not crank ...just apply firm to the brake pedal then push stronger pedal at the same time make light moovements of the key with the slighht chance to moove it out. or...at the same possition of the key try to moove gently to the right and left gear shifter ( just a few millimentrs ) on the park position
It could be a light greez between contacts too!
