Any longterm reviews on the Stealth One ?

Thinking, mulling, what to do with V1 install.

Option A- Fabricate the V1 Remote Display in the bottom ashtray
Option B- Stealth One

I'd love to hear some reviews from those who have used the S1 in conjunction with your X5.

S1 is just great - no problems with it in the last 2 years. IMO - a MUCH better solution than the remote display - can't beat full integration. Very easy to install as well, plus you get some really nice features such as auto-mute at whatever mph you choose and auto-clicking the accept screen. S1 over remote display 100%...!

where do you put the radar detector? I mean if you have to leave it in plain view so that it can pick up the radar, what's the point of a remote display?

Great Info Jay! I've done V1 install but not S1, so this helps plan for the future. Many Thanks!

The remote display *blacks out* the display on the top. Since the *remote display* can be located down in the dash, the LEO will not see it as much also.

Similar to how back in the days, u would piggyback behind a car who had radar when traveling (or just me when I used to drive on roads unfamiliar to me).

The point of S1 is not where the V1 unit is located but where the messages appear and whether the V1 is actually conveniently integrated into the car ie the ability to mute and change volume using steering wheel controls, select the mute speed, etc. I would not want V1 w/o S1.

Oops- You've reminded me of another Questions, Guss...
With full integration via the S1 kit, are the steering wheel buttons still accessible to other uses at other times? If so, how do you switch between say, Stereo & StealthOne button-use?
TIA. M

You never need to use the S1 steering wheel controls, other than to program the S1 or change a setting, and to manually mute the V1. To mute, you push the volume controls up, dn, dn, up, or something like that, in rapid succession. To enter programming, it is something similar. There is no problem doing managing these tasks. If you need to change the S1 settings, turn off the radio while in park, do your thing, and enjoy your music (and auto-muted V1) while driving 25 around town.

An awesome mod!!
